William Joseph "Joe" Hord

Mr. William Joseph “Joe” Hord of Laurinburg departed this life at the age of 75 on March 15, 2026.

He was born June 15, 1950 in Red Springs, NC, loving son of the late James Wayne Hord and the late Myrtle Lea Williams Hord.  Joe enjoyed his career as a Purchasing Manager with Carolina Eye Associates retiring after many years of service.   He loved being outdoors, especially playing a round of golf, along with working in the yard, and spending time at the beach. Joe was an exceptional grandfather who loved supporting and being his grandchildren’s greatest cheerleader. He was an adored father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his adored wife of 38 years, Della Chavis Hord; son, William Joseph “Joe Tech” Hood, Jr.; all of his siblings, Jerry Wayne Hord, Kenneth Harold Hord, Michael Hord, David Hord, Richard Hord, Douglas Hord, Audrey Hord Bundy, and Glenda Hord Davis.

Joe is survived by son, James “Michael” Hord of Florida; daughters, Shelby Yow-Hayes and husband, Mark, Joy Yow Reece and husband, Jeffrey; grandchildren, James Hood, Megan Hayes-Diaz (Devin), Morgan Reece (Forest Edmisten), Richard Reece; and great-grandchild, Reece Edmisten; along with his many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
