William "Jim" Herring

William “Jim” Herring, age 91 of Laurel Hill passed away Friday, November 12, 2021.

Jim was born June 9, 1930 in Dillon County, South Carolina, son of the late William Charlie Herring and Rachel Allen Herring. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, then retiring after 48 years as a supervisor with the Carolina Power and Light Company. He served as a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. In his leisure time, Jim enjoyed tinkering on classic cars. Jim was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will truly be missed.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Ruth Caulk Herring of the home; sons, William Jim Herring, Jr., Donald William Herring, Raymond E. Herring, Larry E. Moody; daughter, Susan Marie Herring; his sisters, Haley Jones, Helen Herring, both of Dillon, SC; grandchildren, Allen Pridgen, Tonya Robbins, Jordan Herring, Ethan Herring, Matthew Herring, Madison Herring, Evan Herring, Jessica Robbins; great grandchild, Courtney Robbins, along with a host of many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

A Memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be at Noon on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church.     Family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the church.
