William Gerald Reid, Jr., of Laurinburg, NC passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at his home of 30 years.
Mr. Reid also known as “Bill” was born August 19, 1940 in Bronx, New York to the late William G. Reid, Sr., and Dorothy Kyne Reid of Bronx, New York. Bill was a graduate of Long Island, New York with many skill trades. His passion for being so dedicated to his work skills and determination, led him to own and operate the Shoe Fixery Shop for 15 years in downtown Laurinburg and creating leather work to help support the local Campbell Soup Company workers. Bill loved working in the yard and tending to his rosters, chickens, hens, his ducks and his best friend Rosie the dog in his spare time.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Nancy Schulz.
He leaves his four children, Timothy J. Reid of Charlotte, NC, Christina A. Reid of Charlotte, NC, James S. Reid of Atlanta, Sherry R. Raynor of Trinity, NC; sisters, Janet Cooper of Mastic Long Island, NY, and Karen Nerwin of Long Island, NY; three grandchildren, Amanda J. Reid of Morrisville, NC, Brittany L. Raynor and her fiancé, Trent Summey of Pittsboro, NC, Christopher J. Reid of Charlotte, NC; along with many extended family members.
The family would like to say a special thank you for Meals on Wheels and all the appreciation to his neighbor Paul and wife Amber.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
