William Revels, Jr.

William Junior Revels, age 79 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 14, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 23, 1946, in Robeson County, North Carolina, he was the firstborn son of the late William Lowry Sr. and Dice Revels Lowry. He was deeply loved and proudly raised by his grandparents, Linzy and Ella Ree Revels, who shaped the devoted man he would become.

William proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972. During his service, he was a member of the esteemed 1st Cavalry Division, achieving the rank of E5 Specialist. Following his military service, William built a distinguished 38-year career as a skilled plumber with McGirt’s Plumbing. Known for his unwavering work ethic, reliability, and masterful craftsmanship, he was a well-respected figure in his trade until his retirement.

Above all, William’s life was anchored by his deep and abiding faith. A dedicated member of Youth for Christ Holiness Church, he took immense joy in serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His unselfish devotion and the countless hours he spent supporting his church left an indelible mark on his church community.

When he wasn’t working or volunteering, William embraced the simple pleasures of life. He loved to fish, enjoyed grilling for those he loved, and treasured nothing more than being surrounded by his family. He was loved beyond measure and will be missed more than words could ever express.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vera Mae Revels. His legacy of love, hard work, and devotion lives on through his large and beautiful family. He is survived by his six sons; William Jeffery Revels, Jimmy Revels and wife, Karen, Gary Revels and friend, April Snipes, Lindsey Revels all of Maxton, NC, Robert Revels of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Glenn Revels and wife, Jennifer of Laurinburg, NC. He is also survived by his two daughters, Gloria Oxendine and husband, Billy of Maxton and Loretta Jones and husband, Ashley of Pembroke, NC. William leaves behind a loving bond with his surviving siblings, including his two brothers, Bobby Lowry and Delton Lowry and wife, Barbara both of Pembroke, NC; his four sisters, Helen Bullard, Norva Locklear and husband, Charles, Harver Locklear and husband, Jerry, and Rowena Locklear and husband, Anthony all of Pembroke, NC. William’s joy multiplied through the generations, and he leaves behind  sixteen grandchildren and  sixteen great-grandchildren who brought immense pride and light to his life, alongside a host of extended family, church members, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Youth for Christ Holiness Church followed by burial in the church cemetery.
