William McKinley Locklear, age 89 of Laurinburg passed away at his home on Saturday, June 13, 2020.
Born March 8, 1931 in Robeson County, William was a son of the late William Locklear and Pernisha Scott Locklear. His life work was in construction, a self employed carpenter who built many homes, loved being an inventor and craftsman. He also enjoyed gardening in his spare time. William was devoted to his family and served as a member of the Wagram Church of God. To his family, he will be treasured as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by granddaughter, Amber Cox; brother, Teedy Scott, and sister, Shelby Jean Scott.
William is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Pate Locklear of the home; his sons, Willie Locklear (Jay), Thomas Locklear (Joanne), Kennedy Locklear; and daughters, Cathy Locklear Hunt (Darryl), Mary Elizabeth Locklear, Maxine Locklear Thomas (Ron); brothers, Hover Locklear, Sonny Scott, Truman Scott, and sisters, Peggy Locklear, Wanda Clark, Rachel Ammons, Barbara McGirt; his grandchildren, Blaine Locklear Thomas, Alex Locklear Thomas, Amy Locklear, Amanda Cox, Heather Cox, McKinley Locklear Thomas, Brandi Locklear McBride, Kelly Locklear, Paige Hunt, Chris Locklear, Blake Hunt; great-grandchildren, Jackson Locklear, Maddox Locklear, Hannah Locklear, Kross Locklear, Jase Locklear, Kaleb McBride, Kennedy Rife, Christian Rife, and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the Wagram Church of God officiated by Rev. Ricky Brewer. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be held prior to services on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Wagram Church of God.
