Willard "Will" Shelby Powell, Jr.

Willard Shelby “Will” Powell, Jr. was born July 28, 1972 in Griffin, Georgia, son of Louise Pridgen Powell and the late Willard Shelby Powell, Sr. He was a Veteran who proudly served in the United States Air Force. He also served the community in law enforcement with the Bennettsville Police Department, the Clio Police Department and as a Federal Air Marshall. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. One of his special attributes was his love for helping people. Will most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will forever be missed as a loving son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Will passed away at age 49 on November 25, 2021.

He is survived by his son, Seth E. Powell of Laurinburg; mother, Louise Pridgen Powell of Laurinburg; sister, Terry Lynn Smith (Harley) of Albertson, NC; nieces, Abigail Smith, Hannah Smith (Diego Chacon); great niece, Alaina Chacon; mother of his child, Susan D. Powell, along with his extended family and friends.    

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 in Hillside Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Mike Powell. The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Monday at graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the American Heart Association.
