Wanda Ann Chavis

Wanda Ann Jones Chavis was born September 26, 1960 in Scotland County. She worked with Wee Pack Logistics for many years and enjoyed drag racing, music, dancing, and cleaning. Wanda was a people person who enjoyed being out, spending time with others and her family. She dedicated her life to family, especially to taking care of the needs of her husband. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Wanda passed away at 61 on January 24, 2022.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack James McGirt and Ella Mae Hammonds; sisters, Valerne Hammonds, Deloria Hammonds, and Alisa Hammonds.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband, Phillip E. Chavis of the home; sons, Kenneth Ray Jones of Maxton, Chad Chavis (Diana) of Laurinburg; brothers, Clilton Barton, Jr. of Monroe, Garth Jacobs of Maxton, Clayton Locklear of Prospect; sisters, Sandra Dial, Renee Jones, both of Maxton, Audrey Lowery of Laurinburg, Traina Locklear, Vannessa Hammonds, Sandra Calhoun, Lisa Counsellor, all of Maxton, Robin Smith of Monroe; grandson, Zeb Thunder Locklear-Chavis; her loving friend, Jean Strickland, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. Donald Bullard and Rev. Howard Locklear. Burial will follow in Smithtown Church of God Cemetery. A time of visitation will be prior to the service on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Due to the current COVID-19 status, facial masks with social distancing are required for all services.
