Wade Chavis of Marston departed this life at the age of 67 on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
He was the loving son of Vergie Chavis Owens and the late William Henry Owens, born December 11, 1957 in Scotland County, NC. Wade was a talented auto mechanic working for Tuscarora Nation Garage in Maxton for many devoted years. He attended Elrod Baptist Church. Wade was a lifelong Ford man, loved being outdoors, going fishing, and taking care of his chickens. He also enjoyed watching western shows and was a gifted handy man who could fix anything. His greatest joy came from time spent with family and the memories they shared. Wade was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Along with his father, he is preceded in death by son, George Clark, Jr.; daughters, Tonya Locklear, Jennifer Easterling; and brother, James Archie Owens.
Left to rejoice in his memory is his adored wife, Melissa Prevatte Chavis of the home; sons, Carey Locklear of Pembroke, Timothy Currie of Hamlet; daughters, Kellie Chavis of Laurinburg, Kandida Chavis (Chris) of Rowland, Rebecca Herndon of Laurinburg, Brittany Stewart of West End; mother, Vergie Chavis Owens of Laurinburg; father-in-law, Thomas Tharpe of Hamlet; brother, Richard Owens of McColl, SC; sister, Lizzie O. Chavis of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Christopher Driggers, Brandon Driggers, Nathan Chavis, Nolan Chavis, Nalyn Chavis, Kanslee Kade Collins, Kanon Collins, McKenzie Herndon, Cadan Easterling, Melissa Currie, Victor Pankey, Walter Pankey, and Madeline Stewart; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held beginning 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the funeral home.
