Virginia Strickland Callahan

Virginia Strickland Callahan, age 60 of Marston, North Carolina passed away on October 2, 2025 after a long illness.  Her presence will deeply be missed by each of her loved ones.

Virginia was the loving daughter of the late Alfred Strickland and the late Hattie Gulledge Strickland born December 22, 1964 in Baltimore, Maryland.  She dedicated her life to the love and care of her family and others.  Virginia worked with the Eaton Corporation for over 25 years until fulfilling her passion in healthcare and becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant where she cared for others at Scotland Regional Hospice until her health declined following an automobile accident.  Her greatest treasure was sharing time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Justin Callahan.

Virginia is survived by her beloved wife, Ophelia Rye of the home; son, Randy Callahan of Laurinburg, and daughter, Jessica Callahan of Laurinburg; her adored grandchildren, Silas Haywood, Hunter Callahan, Julius Callahan, Rhys Callahan, Madison Callahan, Marcus Callahan; brothers, Danny Strickland (Judy) of Marston, Frankie Strickland of Marston, Clark Strickland (Billie) of Laurinburg, Charlie Osteen (Wanda) of Laurinburg, Mike Osteen (Allison) of Virginia; sister, Valerie “Kay” Bowyer (Chuck) of Laurinburg; along with a host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.   Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
