Virginia Catherine (Moorehead) Sessom

Mrs. Virginia Catherine Moorehead Sessom, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend departed this life at the age of 81 on May 16, 2023.

Virginia was the daughter of the late William Henry Moorehead and the late Gladys Julia Caroline Storch Moorehead born July 3, 1941 in Dade City, Florida. On May 28, 1981 she would marry the love of her life, James, with whom she shared a wonderful life until his passing in 2012. Virginia enjoyed sewing, working in her garden, canning, and cooking a delicious meal. Her greatest joy came from creating a welcoming, warm home for her family and sharing time with each of them. Virginia will truly be missed by all of her loved ones.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Clyde Sessom; and sister, Mary Diane Wainwright.

Left to rejoice in her memory are sons, Billy Ward (Jean) of Florida, Eugene Sessom (Mandy) of Laurel Hill; daughters, Cathy Clark (Robbie) of Laurel Hill, Edith Sheffield (Shawn) of Rockingham; brother, William Henry Moorehead (Judy) of Florida; grandchildren, Dewayne Edward Locklear, Jr., Dakota Wayne Locklear, Catherine Faye Sessom, James Jackson Sheffield, Amberly Violet Sheffield, Scott Ward, Dallas Ward, Dillon Ward, Crystal Stevens, Candice Medlin, Caitlyn Locklear; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Alisa, Irlynn, Robert, Eli, Nolan, Baleigh, Londyn, Tacomy, Ivory, Caroline, Abby, Joshua, William; and great-great grandchild, Titus; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.

A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Sessom Family Cemetery.  

A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023 in Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.
