Virginia Collins McIntyre

Virginia Collins Chavis McIntyre, of Bennettsville, South Carolina went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2021.

Virginia was born August 29, 1940 in Anson County, North Carolina, the oldest of eleven children to the late Robert “Bud” Hicks, Sr. and Mary Collins Hicks. She was married to Bobby Allen Chavis and Alvin Lee McIntyre, both preceding her in death. Virginia was a loving housewife, a dedicated employee at Fieldcrest Carpet Mill for over 30 years, and later with Mohawk Carpet for 15 years. She loved working in her flower garden, cutting grass, cooking and canning. Virginia loved family and sharing time with each of them. She will truly be missed by all who loved her.

Along with her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Hicks, Olin Hicks, Donald Hicks, and Thomas Hicks.

Virginia leaves behind, daughter, Barbara Chavis of Wallace, SC; brothers, Charlie Hicks, Billy Hicks, Wayne Hicks, Lonnie Hicks (Joy), all of Wallace, SC; sisters, Kathy Pruitt (Ken) of Chesnee, SC, Betty Terry of Ellerbe, NC; grandchildren, Allen Chavis, Sr. (Buffy), Glenn Driggers (Susie), Linn Driggers (Criston), Brandon Driggers (Stacie), great grandchildren, Allen Chavis, Jr, Aaron Chavis, Hailey Driggers, Emily Driggers, Katelynn Driggers, Madison Driggers, Brandi Driggers, Cameron Driggers, Braylen Chavis, Joshua Driggers, great-great grandchildren, Makenzie Chavis, Nautica Chavis, Kaycen Chavis; several nieces, nephews, along with a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2021 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Wallace, SC. Burial will follow in Chavis Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the church.
