Velma Reginia Harris Bass departed this life for her Heavenly home at the age of 74 on Monday, September 23, 2024.
She was born December 3, 1949 in Pikeville, Tennessee, loving daughter of the late Earl Harris and the late Betty Pearson Harris. Velma was a Godly woman and served as a longtime member of the Little Mission Holiness Church. Along with being a devoted homemaker, she worked for many years in textiles with Hanes. Velma enjoyed a good conversation and was known to have the “gift to gab”. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and making crafts. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family and friends. Velma was an adored mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and neighbor who will be dearly be missed.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Thruman Bass; daughter, Rebecca Bass Cheek; brother, Ronald W. Harris; and sister, Faye Harris.
Left to rejoice in her memory, are sons, Timothy Edward Bass (Wynnette) of Nakina, John “Dean” Bass of West End; daughters, Alesia Sandell of Dayton, TN, Betty S. Dunlap (Adam) of Wilmington; sister, Patricia McBain of Hattiesburg, MS; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and devoted neighbors.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28th, at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29th at the Little Mission Holiness Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
