Vashon Daryl Locklear

Pastor Vashon Daryl Locklear of Maxton passed to his Heavenly home at the age of 50 surrounded by his loving family on September 6, 2025.  He was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother and friend who will deeply be missed.

Vashon was the loving son of Judy Ann Locklear Chavis and the late Dallas Locklear born November 29, 1974 in Laurinburg, NC.  He married the love of his life, April Sanderson Locklear in November 1996 together sharing a life of love and raising their son in a Christian home.  He enjoyed his work as a supervisor with S & C Construction until his failing health.  Vashon was a Godly man who faithfully served the Lord and the Pastor of Marvelous Grace Ministries.   In his leisure time, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and metal detecting.   The love of his family and sharing time with each of them brought Vashon his greatest joy.  

In addition to his father Dallas, he is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Tommy and Kitty Mae Locklear; paternal grandparents, Archie and Ida Ree Locklear.

Vashon is survived by his adored wife of 28 years, April Lynn Locklear, and son, Chandler Ross Locklear of their home in Maxton; his mother, Judy Ann Chavis (Alvin “Truman” Chavis); sisters, Trina Dean Clark (Tony R. Clark) of Maxton, Tara Locklear Branch (Arien Branch) of Rowland; along with a host of loving family and devoted friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. followed by the funeral services at 5:00 p.m.   A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
