Triston Dewayne Chavis

Triston Dewayne “Troop” Chavis of Lumberton, NC passed away at the age of 16 on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

He was the son of Stephen Wayne Chavis, Sr., and Christina Nicole Locklear born July 25, 2006 in Scotland County, NC. Triston was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed football and baseball, riding his bike, or out riding his four-wheeler. He loved taking care of his pit bull dogs and playing Play Station games. Triston especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family. He was a loving son, brother, and friend who will truly be missed.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Christian Hunt; great-grandmother, Geraldine Locklear; and special friend, Devonta Stanley.

Triston leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Stephen Chavis of Maxton, NC and Christina Locklear (Willie Van Chavis) of the home; brothers, Stephen Chavis Jr., and Chris Hunt both of Maxton, NC, Adonis Chavis and Dylan Lancaster both of Lumberton, NC; sisters, Miley Chavis of Lumberton, NC, Brittany Chavis of Pembroke, NC, D’Anna Chavis also of Pembroke, NC; grandparents, Sheana Locklear (William Clark) of Maxton, NC, Michael Locklear (Brenda) of Rowland, NC, Emma and James Chavis of Little Rock, SC; nephews, Marcus Hunt and Daxton Locklear; nieces, Brooklyn Hunt and Aubrey Scott; his special friend, Paige Hunt; along with a host of relatives and friends.

Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Mercy Bridge Holiness Church with burial following at White Oak Christian Fellowship Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
