Thomas “Tommy” Fairley Murray, Jr., of Laurinburg passed away at the age of 59 on August 26, 2025. He was a loving husband, step father, brother, uncle and friend who will deeply be missed by all who knew him.
Tommy was the loving son of the late Thomas Murray, Sr., and the late Patricia Phillips Murray born January 7, 1966 in Laurinburg, NC. He was a graduate of Scotland High School and attended Robeson Community College. He worked as a supervisor in the commercial property maintenance industry with United Properties and Maintenance. Tommy loved motorcycles along with his specialty of sound and audio competition. He also enjoyed bass fishing, dove hunting and visits to the beach. Above all, he cherished his family and time shared with each of them.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Dawn Murray of their home; step daughter, Savannah Strickland of Laurinburg; step mother, Kathy McGuire Murray of Pinehurst; brother, Josh Murray (Lisa) of Laurel Hill; and sister, Jan Spivey (Walter) of Southern Pines; step sister, Theresa Forbis (Billy) of Wagram; along with special nieces, nephews, extended family, many devoted friends and his fur babies, Bella and Bentley.
The family acknowledges with special recognition Keith and Kaleena Cummings for all of their support.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service. The family will have a time of visitation prior to the service on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the family home.
In memory of Tommy, donations are requested to be given to Bikers for Back The Blue Shop with a Cop / Deputy for Scotland County and Richmond County. Checks should be made payable to Lieutenant Chris Jackson, mailing to the Laurinburg Police Department, 303 West Church Street, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
