Sylvester “Julius Jr.” Oxendine of Maxton passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020.
Julius Jr., was born April 13, 1950 in Columbus County, a son of the late Julius Hunt and Maggie G. Hunt. He was a Veteran who proudly served in the United States Army. He retired after 35 years of service from JP Stevens and was a member of Little Zion Freewill Baptist Church. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, drag racing and riding his scooter. He most loved spending time with his family.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Haggans Oxendine and brother, Sonny Locklear.
He leaves behind his sons, Billy Oxendine of Maxton, Jimmie Oxendine of Pembroke; daughters, Joanne Oxendine (Stewart Locklear) of Maxton, Kristina Hunt (Terry Locklear) of Rowland; brothers, Blare Locklear, Jerry Locklear, Buddy Locklear, Willie Howard Locklear; sisters, Barbara Jean Jones, Ethel Mae Clark, Shirley Rogers; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, along with many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
A private service for immediate family only will be at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2020 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, with burial following in Little Zion Church Cemetery. There will be a time of viewing for extended family and friends between the hours of Noon until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The immediate family will not be present during this time in order to follow mandated restrictions.
STATE OFFICIALS HAVE MANDATED LIMITING GATHERINGS TO NO MORE THAN 50 PEOPLE. IN ORDER TO KEEP ALL OF OUR FAMILIES SAFE AT THIS TIME, RICHARD BOLES FUNERAL SERVICE WILL ABIDE BY THIS MANDATE.
