Sydney Brynn Strickland

In the early morning of August 30, 2025, our beloved Sydney Brynn Strickland departed this life for her Heavenly home at the forever young age of 18 years old. She was a shining light to so many and will be deeply missed.  

Sydney was the precious daughter of Shannon Hasty and Bryan Strickland born November 10, 2006 in Scotland County, NC.   She was a beautiful young lady with a heart of gold and deeply loved by all who knew her.  She was an extremely intelligent student graduating from Scotland Early College High School where she also enjoyed cheerleading and playing soccer for Scotland High School.  Sydney was delighted to be student of the University of North Carolina Wilmington where she was proud of being a Delta Delta Sigma Pre Dental Honor Society Student.  She loved worship and serving as a member of the Light House Nation Church and truly loved her church family.  Along with sharing time with her devoted family and friends, she also enjoyed her time traveling.  Her beautiful smile and loving spirit will forever shine in the hearts of her loved ones.

Sydney is survived by her parents, Shannon Hasty (Scott) of Laurinburg, Bryan Strickland (Amanda) of Laurel Hill; brothers, Nolan Strickland of Laurinburg and Dawson M. Strickland of Laurel Hill; grandparents, Bunny and Andy Hasty of Laurinburg, Vicky and Joe Doren of Gibson; and great grandmother, Margaret Manship (Robin) of Laurinburg.  She also leaves behind a host of loving extended family and many devoted friends.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the New Hope Baptist Church with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.    Visitation will be prior to services on Thursday beginning at 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church.
