Steve Allen Grooms

Steve Allen Grooms, age 72 of Laurinburg passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020.

Steve was a son of the late William and Queen Rainwater Grooms, born October 10, 1947 in Scotland County, North Carolina.   He was a Vietnam War Veteran who proudly served our country in the United States Army.  Steve was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his bravery and service.   He retired after many years as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service in Maxton, NC.   He loved sharing time with his family and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing softball.   To his family, Steve will be remembered as their devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

He leaves behind his wife, Shirley Wallace Grooms of the home; sons, Timmy Grooms (Shelia) of Seagrove, and Chris Trumbull of Laurinburg; his daughter, Mandy Grooms Williams, (Michael) of Holly Springs; brothers, William Grooms (Lynda) of McColl, SC, Cecil Grooms (Janice) of Marston, NC; his adoring grandchildren, Dalston Maness, Cameron Williams, Carson Williams, along with his nieces, nephews and many friends.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at Noon on Saturday, June 20, 2020 in Hillside Memorial Park.      The family will receive friends following the service at graveside.
