Stella Mae Ellerbee Berry, age 80 of Laurinburg passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020.
Stella was born January 25, 1940 in Columbus County, daughter of the late Lannau Ellerbee and Beulah Huggins Ellerbee. She was wife of the late Jasper Junior Berry who preceded her in death in 1997. She was a member of Emmanuel Ministries in Hamlet. She retired after years of service in the textile industry. She loved going to church and reading. Stella loved her family and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her children, Rebecca Spivey (Monroe) of Whiteville, Nathan Chavis (Valdeana) of Lexington, Charles Berry of Rockingham, Myrtle Paul (Mack) of Rockingham, Jasper Berry (Tabitha) of Gibson, Kristy Smith (Shain) of Laurinburg; brother, Sam Hunt of Evergreen; sisters, Margie Jacobs of Bolton, Thelma Strickland of Fayetteville, Daphine Jacobs of Lake Waccamaw; grandchildren, Anthony Spivey(Becky), Phillip Spivey (Kara), Macaila Paul, McKena Paul, Madison Berry, Chelsea Berry, Shaina Smith, Shelly Smith; great grandchildren, Cameron Harrington, Kaydence Paul, Addison Spivey, Easton Spivey, Abigail Spivey, Lakeyn Spivey, along with a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Due to COVID-19, a private family service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. D. J. Byrd. Burial will follow in Laurinburg Memorial Park. A time of viewing will be on Friday prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
