Shirley Wallace Grooms, age of 76 passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
She was born in Scotland County, NC on September 27, 1949, loving daughter of the late Grady Wallace and the late Lucille Sheppard Wallace. Shirley worked for Scotland County Government for many dedicated years until retiring. She loved teaching Sunday School and Children’s Church at South Laurinburg Church of God where she served as member until her health declined. Shirley enjoyed being outdoors working in her yard, bird watching, or watching a good western show. She also enjoyed crafting, especially sewing, drawing, and painting. Shirley’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to have known and loved her.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Steve Allen Grooms; siblings, Jimmy Lee Wallace, Grady McArthur “Mac” Wallace, Betty Sampson; and beloved K-9, Chi-Chi
Shirley is survived by her son, Timothy Allen Grooms (Sheila) of Seagrove; daughter, Mandy Williams (Michael) of Bear Creek; raised in the home, Christopher Trumbull of Laurinburg; brothers, Ralph Wallace (Tracy) of Troutman, Danny Wallace (Trish) of Laurel Hill; sister-in-law, Judy Wallace of Laurinburg and Rebecca Wallace; brother-in-law, Ron Sampson of Georgia; grandchildren, Cameron Williams, Carson Williams, and Dalston Maness; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 beginning 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.
Graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at Hillside Memorial Park.
