Mrs. Shirley Walker Watts, was called home to be with her Lord on the evening of May 5, 2026. She lived a long, full life of loving and caring for others and was a true blessing to all that knew her.
She was born October 17, 1935, only daughter of the late Clarence Tyre ”CT” and Rose Bell Walker of Cabarrus County, North Carolina. She shared many wonderful years with her husband, Gilbert Leon Watts until his passing in 2004. Along with being a wonder homemaker, Shirley also enjoyed her work with the NCDMV License Plate Agency and especially helping her husband in the Ice Distribution Company of Scotland County.
Following retirement in Laurinburg, they found their happy home in Traphill, a small quiet, mountain community in Wilkes County. She loved her home and sharing her blessings of Christ in their community and serving as a faithful member of the Old Roaring River Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking or sharing sweet treats with others in their time of need or just to lift ones spirits. Above all, Shirley cherished her family and treasured time shared with each of them. She will be remembered as a precious and loving mother, the best Mamaw, devoted aunt and special friend to many.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, June Watts; brothers, Pete Walker and Paul Walker.
She is survived by her children, Kaye W. Hickman and her husband Buddy of Laurinburg, NC, Frank Watts and his wife, Elaine of Statesville, NC; adored grandchildren, Chris Watts and wife Christy, Ben Watts, Lisa Hickman, Blake Hickman; great grandchildren, Jaxon Watts and Lincoln Watts.
