Shirley Locklear Bowen, age 87 of Laurinburg, NC passed away on March 12, 2025.
She was born May 30, 1937 in Scotland County, NC, loving daughter of the late Raymond and Beaulah Locklear. Shirley worked as a seamstress for many years in textiles then with Golf Pride/Eaton Corporation until retiring. She enjoyed sewing and loved cooking and baking a delicious meal or sweet treat. This love led to winning many Blue Ribbons at the John Blue Festival, where she had a booth for 25 years. Shirley loved her family and the time they were able to share. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, David H. Bowen; son, Jimmy Dean Bowen; granddaughter, Heather Bowen; and siblings, Raymond Locklear, Jr., Margaret Winburn, and Lowell Locklear.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, David “Mitchell” Bowen of Laurinburg, Keith Ryan Bowen (Bobbie) of Rowland, Eddie Wayne Bowen (Stephanie) of Laurinburg; daughter, Patsy Ann Bowen Delk (Malery) of Laurinburg; brothers, Earl Locklear (Bobbie), Curtis Locklear (Jeannette) both of Laurinburg; sisters, Myrtle Bowen of Tatum, SC, Annie Bass of Cheraw, SC, Virginia “Ginger” Smith of Petersburg, VA; sister-in-law’s, Ann Locklear or Laurinburg, Joan Locklear of Aiken, SC; grandchildren, Shane “Shawn” Jones, Daniel Lynn Bowen (Amy), Jonathan Keith Bowen (Kimberly), Joshua Ryan Bowen (Alexis), Megan Lynn Bowen (Dedrick); twenty-four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of loving extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in the Bowen Family Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home
