Shelby Jean Allen

Shelby Jean Wilder Allen of Maxton, NC passed away at the age of 83 on Friday, March 7, 2025.

She was the loving daughter of the late Richard M. Wilder and the late Annie Ruth Butler Wilder, born March 30, 1941 in Fayetteville, NC. Along with being a homemaker, Shelby loved her career as a Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Therapist for over 25 years beginning her career in Texas and later retiring from FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.   She also served as a faithful member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Maxton.  In her free time, she loved to cross stitch and used her talent to create her own beautiful patterns. Shelby was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Dan Allen; and brothers, Richard Wilder and Robert Wilder.

Shelby is survived by daughters, Patricia Swift, Teresa Paxton, both of Maxton, and Wendy Ronshausen and husband, Michael of Texas; grandchildren, George Spegal, Brandon Wakolee, Chris Wakolee, Shannon Hoffnauer, Travis Paxton, Sheila Haire, Andrew Ronshausen, Sarah Ronshausen; and twenty-one great-grandchildren; along with many loving extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with visitation following.
