Sheila Kellly

Sheila Rose Cook Kelly, age 82 of Laurinburg, NC departed this life on September 20, 2025.

She was born March 31, 1943 in Gaston County, North Carolina, loving daughter of the late Everette Spurgeon Cook and the late Willie Thomas Cook. Sheila was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family and creating a warm and welcoming home. She enjoyed listening to music, sewing, and watching a good movie. Sheila cherished her family and the good times and wonderful memories they shared. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be truly missed.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by sons, James Monroe Barnhill, Paul Barnhill; and brother, Everette Cook, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory is son, Kevin Williams of Laurinburg; daughters, Sherry D. Castro of High Point, Tamra Barnhill also of High Point, Brenda Lewis of Laurinburg, Linda O’Quinn of Clintwood, VA, Sheila Cottingham (James) of Laurel Hill; brother, Ivy Cook of Laurel Hill; sisters, Betty Phillips, Cindy Tindell, Juanita Groom, and Delores Rye all of Laurinburg; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family is planning a memorial service for a later date.
