Shauna Locklear Bennett

Shauna Locklear Bennett, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many passed away at the age of 71 surrounded by the love of her family on April 11, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late Burlin Locklear and Euna Chavis Locklear born October 1, 1953 in Laurinburg, NC.  She married her sweetheart, Jimmy Bennett on May 12, 1973, together sharing a lifetime of love for 51 years. Shauna was a delightful lady who loved and cherished her family as a homemaker.  In years past, she also enjoyed her time caring for customers at The Medicine Shoppe.  Shopping and traveling with her family were just two of her most favorite pastimes.  Shauna will deeply be missed and cherished for the legacy of love she leaves behind her family.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her only son, Jimmy Ray Bennett, Jr; brother, Burlie Dossie Locklear, Sr; sister, Fannie Sue Holt; and great nephew, Burlie Dawson Locklear III.

Shauna is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Bennett, Sr., of their home in Laurinburg; daughter, Cristy Bennett Locklear; step daughters, Tammy Leigh (Jamie) and Terri Locklear (Thomas); Goddaughter, Kelly Hunt (Raymond); brothers, James Leonard Locklear and Ricky Locklear (Harlan); sister, Ruby Victoria Chavis; adored grandchildren, Malerie B. Gholson (Michael), Jalyn K. Clark (Cody), McKenzie Layne Bennett, Camri Lynnette Bennett (Emmanuel), Tavia Rae Locklear, Jerry Wayne McPherson, Jr., Terry Lee McPherson (Heather); special grandchildren, Brianna Nicole Stanley (Gigi), Khalic Damon Monroe (Day Day); great grandchildren, Raelyn, Rayden, Sa’Raya, Easton, Rowan, Jaden, Zayla, A’Nileigh, Hynslee, Selena, Jordan, Ethan, McKenna, Jaxson, Layvionna; special caregivers, Paul and Brittany Hunt; devoted friends, Joann Thomas and Sue Powell; along with a host of loving family and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service. 

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April l6th at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.
