Sharon Anne English Smith of Gibson, NC, completed the journey to her Heavenly home in the late evening of April 10, 2026. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will profoundly be missed by each of her loved ones.
Sharon was the daughter of the late Eli Thomas English and the late Peggy O’Neal Scott English born May 8, 1953 in Scotland County, North Carolina. She dedicated her life to the care of her family as a homemaker along with serving as the Activities Director for the former Willow Haven Nursing Center.
She loved attending and sharing in worship at Peace Holiness Church. At the early age of 10, Sharon discovered her blessing of a musical talent. She loved playing piano, guitar and singing, especially singing with her family. She also enjoyed her time cutting grass, cooking and especially helping others when and where needed.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by son, Kevin Brooks; brothers, Tom English and Tim English.
Sharon leaves behind her loving husband of 37 years, Richard Smith of their home; son, Lee Brooks (Michelle) of Laurinburg; daughters Theresa Jackson (John Sr.) of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Kimberly Smith of Gibson, Amber Smith (Keith) of Whitakers, and Holly Smith Anderson of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Dawn Brooks; sisters, Minnie Sapp (Craig) of Belton, SC, Sheila Miller (Danny) of Gibson, Regina Adams (Bobby) of Bennettsville, SC; her adored fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; many loving nephews, nieces, extended family, and two very special to her heart, Roger Goins and Ken Ikner.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
