Sharon Bowen Wallace
February 5, 1956 - October 9, 2024
Sharon, a cherished matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully in the evening on Wednesday, October 9th following a courageous battle with cancer. She was known for her unwavering loyalty and immense love for her family, friends, and church community. Sharon had a servant’s heart, always ready to lend a hand—whether through her work, her dedication to her church, or by preparing a meal for someone in need. She touched the lives of many, always present for those who needed her most. Sharon loved life’s simple joys, from spending time at the beach and the mountains with her children and grandchildren to indulging in her passion for shoe shopping. She was also an avid fan of shag dancing, where her vibrant spirit truly came to life.
She was predeceased by both her parents, Frank and Betty Watson, her second husband of 12 years, Ronnie Wallace as well as her first husband of 35 years, Charles Callaway Bowen. Sharon leaves behind her son, Phillip (Mary-Ann) Bowen of Atlanta, GA and daughter, Amy Bowen of Conway, SC as well as her six grandsons, Curtis, Isaiah, Jacob and JR Simpson, Parke and Jay Callaway Bowen and stepdaughter Michelle Oakley. She is survived by brothers, Greg (Diana), Stanley (Robin) and Tony Watson, sister, Susan Wallwork, sister-in-law, Michelle Watson and aunt, Elaine Pate, as well as so many dear cousins and a big family of nieces and nephews who loved her as a second mom. Sharon will be deeply missed by so many, but her legacy of love, service, and joy for life will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 18th, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodville Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Woodville Pentecostal Holiness Church in Laurel Hill, NC.
To honor Sharon, please consider showing someone the love they need today by making a meal, praying, or just reaching out to keep connections strong. That’s what Sharon would do.
