Sarah Elizabeth Lytch

Sarah Elizabeth Lytch, fondly known as Sarah Beth, of Laurinburg, NC, formerly of Fayetteville departed this life at the age of 74 on September 6, 2023. Born on April 7, 1949 in Bennettsville, SC, the daughter of the late Douglas McLaurin Lytch and the late Sarah Peterson Lytch.

She graduated Valedictorian of Rowland High School Class of 1967 and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. A passion for education led Sarah to a fulfilling career as a Second Grade Teacher with the Cumberland County School System retiring after over forty years of dedicated service. Sarah Beth enjoyed serving in her community and church in many capacities including being a reader for the Radio Reading Service for the Blind, Storyteller with Cumberland County Arts Council, and as an Elder at Westminister Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. She was also faithful to her home church, Midway Presbyterian Church in Maxton, NC. In her leisure time, Sarah was an avid reader and enjoyed Square Dancing. Sarah Beth will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by sister-in-law, Vidrene Lytch; and best friend, Shelby Jean.

Sarah Beth is survived by her brothers, Madison Lytch (Dina) of Maxton, Danny Lytch of Harrells; sister, Janet Morgan (Lee) of Laurinburg; nieces and nephews “niblings”, Vicki Melton (David), Daniel Lytch (Rachael), Adam Lytch (Jennifer), Lewis Lytch (Liz), Margaret Dickerson (Ben); great “niblings”, Scout, Alexis, Morris, Lottie, Sarah Grace, Maddie, Paisley, Birdie, Lainey, and Lilly; along with her loving cat, “Sweet Pea”.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Scotland Regional Hospice for their loving and compassionate care extended to Sarah Beth.

Memorial services to celebrate Sarah's life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 beginning with visitation from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. followed by service at 11:00 a.m. at the Westminister Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, NC.   A memorial service will then be held later on Saturday afternoon, 2:30 p.m. at Sarah's home church of Midway Presbyterian Church, Maxton, NC.
