Samuel Angus McInnis, Jr., age 66 of Laurinburg passed away on February 18, 2020.
Samuel was born January 5, 1954 in Laurinburg, son of the late Samuel Angus McInnis and Betty Thames McInnis. He was a gifted educator especially for troubled students, teaching Social Studies in both middle and high school, along with juvenile and adult classes in correctional facilities. Mac was a collector of many things, an avid reader, music lover, and he enjoyed participating in Revolutionary War reenactments. He was a craftsman that enjoyed making items from wood. Known and loved by many, Mac made an impression on all he encountered.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Barnas, his daughter, Elizabeth “Paige” McInnis of Laurinburg and sons, Joseph “Austin” McInnis of Laurinburg, Edward “Tyler” Dennis of Arlington, VA; sister, Betty Jo McInnis of Rockingham; special aunt, Sarah Robbins and his many cousins and loving friends.
The family will have a time of visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Richard Boles Funeral Service. A private graveside memorial service will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for memorial donations to be given to the Scotland County Humane Society, 1401 West Blvd., Laurinburg, NC 28352.
