Ruby Lee (White) Norton

Ruby White Norton 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away on December 31, 2025 in Laurinburg surrounded by her loving family. 

Ruby was born on November 26, 1937, in Marlboro County, South Carolina, to Charlie White and Cleo Giddens White.  She married Wade Norton, Jr. on January 31, 1959 in McColl, SC and to that union a daughter and son were born, Sharon and Eric.

Ruby had a long career at BellSouth, beginning as an operator in 1958, and retiring as an Engineering Assistant in 1997.  Following retirement from BellSouth, she worked with Service Thread for 19 years from 1999 to 2018. 

Ruby was happiest when she was with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a selfless person, fiercely protective of and devoted to her family and always thinking of others and how she could help make their life a little better or easier.  She always seemed to know just what everyone needed and made it happen.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping and cleaning.  Her home was joyful, always warm, inviting and welcoming.  She loved her church and church family of Faith Presbyterian and enjoyed attending and serving while her health allowed.  She will be remembered by her family for all the love, support, and devotion she showered on us all.  She was the heart of her family and will be greatly missed every day.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was pre-deceased by her brothers, Willie White and Alfred White and her beloved aunt and uncle, Queenie and Buster McClellan.

Ruby is survived by her children, Sharon Norton English and husband Dean; Eric Norton and wife Tracy; her grandchildren: Ryan Norton and wife Liz, Elizabeth English Maynor and husband Trevor, Kevin Norton and wife Rebecca, and Grant English and wife Kiley, Emma Stubbs, Kadin Mihtar and Grayson Mihtar; her great-grandchildren: Beckett Norton, Ember Norton, Holden Williams, Bailey Norton, Noah Norton, Abigail Maynor, Callie Maynor and Alice Maynor.

The family would like to acknowledge Thelma Chavis for the special care and devotion she provided our precious mother.  We love you dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Faith Presbyterian Church with burial following at Hillside Memorial Park.

A time of visitation will be held from 2 pm to 2:45 pm at the church.
