Roy Allen Prevatte, age 73 of McColl, SC passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
He was born April 4, 1951 in Marlboro County, SC, loving son of the late J.D. and Bertha Lee Chavis Prevatte. Roy was a devoted employee of J.P. Stevens, Inc., working for many years as a mechanic until his retirement. He served as a faithful member of the Oak Hill Church of God. Roy was a talented musician who loved playing the piano, guitar, and singing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and especially loved spending time with family. Roy was a devoted husband, adored father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Joseph “Joe” Prevatte, Fairley Prevatte; and sister, Rebecca Grooms.
Left to cherish his memory is wife, Mollie Smith Prevatte of the home; daughters, Karen Smith and husband, Harvey of Laurinburg, Christa York and husband, Alvin of Laurel Hill; brothers, William Prevatte, Jay Prevatte both of McColl, SC; sister, Thelma Bailey of McColl, SC; grandchildren, Richard Smith and wife, Amanda, Heather Smith, Bryce Rogers, Hayden Sanchez, Justin Smith, Liam Smith, Kingston York; great-grandchildren, Emilie Smith and Bailey Smith; and special family, Tina Prevatte, Shannon Prevatte, Cale Smith, and Darryl Smith; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the Oak Hill Church of God. Burial with military honors will follow in Priest Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14th at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
