Mrs. Roberta Altman Thompson of Laurel Hill, passed to her Heavenly home at the age of 90 on March 21, 2026.
She was the loving daughter of the late W. Emmett Altman and the late Leslie Gist Altman, born September 29, 1935 in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. Roberta’s love for education and children led to a fulfilling career within the Pender County School System for many years teaching business classes for the high school. She loved being a Pastor’s wife serving the Lord alongside her husband, Rev. Roger E. Thompson before his passing. Roberta loved her family and enjoyed all the moments spent together and the many memories they created. She was an adored mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will truly be missed.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Rev. Roger E. Thompson; daughter, Faith; and fourteen siblings.
Roberta is survived by daughters, Hope T. Ligon and Dawn Underwood both of Bolivia; sister, Minnie Campbell of Blythewood, South Carolina; grandchildren, Madison Ligon, Jackson Ligon, Taylor Ligon, Alexis Underwood, and Joshua Hedrick; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Richmond County Memorial Park.
