Robert "Bobby" Michael Sweet, Sr.

Robert “Bobby” Michael Sweet, Sr., age 73 of Gibson passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

Bobby was born May 11, 1947 in Scotland County, son of the late Floyd Blue Sweet and Grace Collins Sweet. He was a Veteran who proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was the owner of Affordable Buildings and Carports, serving the Laurinburg community for many years. Bobby attended Woodville Pentecostal Holiness Church, loved old cowboy movies, fishing, auctions, antiques, and animals. He also had a knack for storytelling as well as talking to people. To his family, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Lt. Colonel Floyd B. “Bus” Sweet, Jr., James W. “Jim” Sweet, Lemmual B. “Lem” Sweet; sisters, Betty Joanne Sweet and Diane Sweet Frocchi.

He leaves behind, his devoted wife of 50 years, Teresa Wood Sweet of the home; sons, Robert Michael “Rusty” Sweet, Jr., James Bryon “Jamie” Sweet, both of Gibson; grandson, Austin Michael Sweet of Gibson; nephew, Michael W. Seals; sister, Patricia Sweet Grady; special friends, Megan E. “Flossie” Decker, Chris Suarez, Shelby Jean Callahan, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services with military honors will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
