Richard Lee Goodyear, age 63 of Laurinburg passed away on July 12, 2026 at Morrison Manor after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on September 16, 1962 in Scotland County, NC to the late Lawrence H. Goodyear, Sr., and the late Annie B. Johnson Goodyear. Ric was a United States Air Force Veteran who proudly served during Operation Desert Storm. He served with honor and valor from 1981-1991 earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. Ric was a man of many talents, known for his woodworking, carpentry, and exquisite designs. He loved to go camping and had a giving, loving personality to everyone he met.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Carolyn Patterson.
Ric is survived by his wife of 25 years, Diane Gibson Goodyear of the home; stepsons, James K. Beane of Laurinburg, Brian M. Beane of Marston; brothers, Lawrence H. Goodyear, Jr., (Kathy) of Little River, SC, George Knight of Oregon, Davin E. Johnson, Keith R. Knight of Bennettsville. SC; and sisters, Joyce F. Hathaway of Little River, SC, Wanda G. Shivley (Martin) of Ocean Isle Beach, Elizabeth J. Smith (Robert) of Beaufort; along with many loving extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026 in the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. A visitation to honor Ric’s life will be held prior to the service on Friday beginning 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
