Raymond E. Smith, age 91 of Winterville, formerly of Laurinburg departed this life for his Heavenly home on July 9, 2025.
He was the loving son of the late Charlie C. Smith and the late Sally D. Smith, born May 3, 1934 in Cumberland County, NC. Raymond worked in farming for forty-six years as an overseer with McNair Farms and Baker Enterprises until retiring. He was a faithful member of Midway Presbyterian Church actively serving as a Deacon, Elder, and Clerk of Session. Raymond enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and boating. He especially enjoyed time spent at the beach with family. Raymond will be greatly missed and remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his adored wife, Nola Mae Owens Smith; son, Woody Smith; daughter-in-law, Susie Smith; brother, Henry Smith; and sister, Elizabeth Garris.
Raymond is survived by daughter, Tami Dunn (Danny) of Winterville; grandchildren, Tara Dail (Robbie), Brad Ammons (Mary Alyson); and great-grandchildren, Carley Ritchie, Olivia Ritchie, Cassie Dail, Holton Dail, Will Ammons, and Kaki Ammons; along with his loving extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Midway Presbyterian Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the services beginning 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday at the church.
Memorial donations are requested to be made in Raymond’s memory to the Midway Presbyterian Church.
