Prentiss “Jug Head” Wayne Odom of Bennettsville, SC departed this life at the age of 81 on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
He was born December 5, 1943 in Marlboro County, SC, loving son of the late Prentiss Odom and the late Hattie Steen Odom. Jug Head proudly served his country in the United States Army earning the rank SPC5. He served as a member of Company A 317th ENG BN, serving in Hoechst, Germany from 1961-1964. Jug Head often said “when I went in, I could not vote, when I got out, I could not go to the liquor store”. He then earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Technology. After a long career he retired after many dedicated years working and teaching information systems and internet technology. He also enjoyed attending New Beginnings Christian Ministries in Hamlet.
Jug Head loved collecting and working on old cars, especially Ford Falcon’s, where restoring them to new gave him great pleasure. He also loved growing and selling produce, tracing his family genealogy, and taking care of his adored K-9’s, Twinkles and Dinky. Above all, time spent with family meant the world to him, especially with his grandchildren. Jug Head was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
