Philip Anthony Mozingo, age 53 of Maxton, NC passed away at his home after a long illness on Monday, June 29, 2026.
He was born July 20, 1972 in Trenton, New Jersey, loving son of Joyce Williams Mozingo and the late Alton Carter Mozingo. Philip proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1991 until 1994 as part of the Field Artillery Unit. He was a valued employee of Campbell Soup Company for many years until his health declined. Philip served as a faithful member of East Laurinburg Church of God and enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher through the years. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Queheel Fire Department and formerly with the Maxton Southeastern Rural Volunteer Fire Department. Philip also served as a chaplain for a nursing home in Red Springs. He loved the game of basketball and was an All-Conference player in high school, setting the record as the first player to dunk a basketball. Philip enjoyed cutting his grass, reading, and especially going on road trips. He was a loving husband, son, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Philip is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dawn Milligan Mozingo of the home; mother, Joyce Mozingo of Maxton; brother, Alton “Keith” Mozingo of California; brother-in-law, Jeremy Milligan of Maxton; and sisters-in-law, Sarah Milligan of Maxton and Shirley Lowery of Laurinburg; along with many loving extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026 at East Laurinburg Church of God with burial following in the Hillside Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday beginning 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church.
