Percy Ray Tew was born February 14, 1943 in Robeson County, a son of the late John Branson Tew and Dorothy Hicks Tew. He worked many years in mobile home transportation. He adored his family, enjoyed fishing at the coast, drag racing and especially sharing time with his grandchildren. Percy passed away at the age of 77 on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Edna Evans Tew; his daughter, Suzanne Kersey and grandson, Travis Tew.
He leaves behind sons, Billy Tew (Linda) of Hamlet, Johnny “Rock” Tew (Lisa), Michael Kersey (Marlena) both of Laurinburg; step-son, Lee Smith of Wagram; brothers, James Tew and Johnny Tew, both of Laurinburg; seventeen grandchildren, Larry Ray Tew, Jennifer Watts, Budgy Tew, Chasity Tew, Shania Tew, Alan Kersey, Ray Ray Kersey, Noah Kersey, Jessica Smith, Jimmy Kessler, Brittany Gunter, Ashley Kersey, Bridgett Cummings, Beth Blackwell, Jeremy Taylor, Harley Taylor, Michael Alan Langley and twenty seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Ray Oxendine and Rev. Mike McNeil. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. Family will receive friends prior to services from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
