Peggy Locklear Stewart, age 69, was born on May 18, 1955 and raised in Maxton, NC. She slipped into her Heavenly home surrounded by her family on January 13, 2025. Peggy is preceded in death by her biological parents, James and Betty L. Locklear; bonus parents, Dock and Mattie Bell Locklear; her only son, John Earl Lambert; brother, Ronald Locklear; and eight more brothers and four sisters.
Peggy worked for many years in textiles with Charles Craft and later loved being a home health caregiver. She served as a member of Rainbow Covenant Church. Peggy loved keeping a clean home, decorating for every season, and going shopping. She enjoyed watching Television and cheering on her favorite sports teams, Carolina Panthers Football and Charlotte Hornets Basketball.
To know Peggy was to love her. She opened her heart and home to many people. She loved to cook and was sure to make you a plate. Her home was a safe haven to anyone that entered. Peggy was most commonly known as “Ma Peg”, which describes her perfectly because she was a mother to many. Despite any physical complications, she always gave all she had and could make you smile at any given moment. Peggy was a faithful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Peggy leaves to cherish her memory the love of her life, husband, Dennis Stewart of the home; daughter, Briana McMillian (Nana) of Maxton; “her youngins” she lovingly raised as her own, Jacob (Pumpkin), Josh (Fat Baby), Samia (Bear), Kandice Esquibel, Michelle Esquibel, Amber Locklear, Amyelita Esquibel, and Fer’Riyah; brothers, Winford Locklear (Diane), Kermit Locklear, Gregory Locklear; sisters, Savanna Clark (Donald), Vera Webber, Vanessa Locklear, Mattie B. Locklear, Donetta Kerans, and Jamie Locklear; her best friend of forty years, Patsy Chavis; a host of adored grandchildren; along with many extended family and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
A time of visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
