Mrs. Pearl Sports Norton, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed to her Heavenly home at the age of 95 on October 4, 2023.
Pearl was born September 9, 1938, daughter of the late John Alex Sports and the late Myrtle Mabelle Springs Sports of Clarendon County, South Carolina. She was a strong woman of faith, a devoted homemaker who raised her family in a loving Christian home. She worked in textiles for many years; although, Mrs. Pearl loved her career with Walmart in fabrics and crafts caring for customers always with her warm happy smile. She faithfully served the Lord and proud to be the oldest living member of the East Laurinburg Church of God. Her spirit of love and caring for others was always evident while serving in many duties of the church.
Mrs. Pearl had many hobbies and especially talented in plastic canvas art. She loved making doll houses and their furnishings to lovingly share with children. As long as her health would allow, she enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardens. She enjoyed reading and completing word search puzzles. Sharing her love with hugs and kisses brought her so much joy and those will dearly be missed. Mrs. Pearl’s legacy of love will be cherished by her loved ones, church family and many friends.
Preceding Pearl in death are her parents; husbands, Lucian Carl “LC” Williams and Eugene Norton, Sr.; infant daughter, Debra Kay Williams; son-in-law, Tommy Mauldin; brother, John Alex Sports, Jr., and loving sister, Carrie Lee Cole.
Leaving to cherish her memory are children, Gwendolyn Mauldin of Laurinburg, Gail Russell (David) of Hamlet, Cindy Starling (David) of Gibson, Robert Alex Norton of Greenville, SC, and Eugene Thomas Norton, Jr.; sister, Grace Sollenberger of Cheraw, SC; her loving grandchildren, Thomas Mauldin, Kevin Mauldin, D.J.
