Pastor Nettie Idela (Strickland) Strong

Pastor Nettie Idela Strickland Strong, age 73 of Laurinburg went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.

Nettie, a loving daughter of the late Milton Strickland and Viola Goins Strickland was born August 7, 1946 in Scotland County. She was a devoted pastor’s wife to the late Rev. Jerry Strong. After the passing of Jerry in 2016, Nettie took over as Pastor of Revelation of Trinity Church where she faithfully served in giving her prayers, time and talents to others within the church and in the community. Among her many hobbies, she enjoyed cooking, sewing and preparing herbal home remedies. To her family, she will be remembered as a devoted pastor, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Strickland; sister, Margaret S. Quick, and grandchild, Charity Faith Hope Strong.

Nettie leaves behind her son, Gerald Mitchell Strong; daughter-in-law, Marlene Locklear Strong; brothers, Miller Strickland, Donnie Strickland, Bracey Strickland, Tracey Strickland, and Colden Strickland; grandchildren, Andrew Bradley Strong, Anthony Brian Strong, Gage Micah Strong, Logan Strong, great grandchildren, Dakota Matthew Strong, Ethan Nakota Strong, Cheyenne Summer Strong; a host of loving nieces, nephews and many friends.

A private graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2020 in Hillside Memorial Park.

A time of viewing for family and friends will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2020 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
