Oveda "Bobby" Summerlin Knotts

Oveda Summerlin “Bobby” Knotts almost 91 passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022.  Born July 17, 1931 in Laurinburg on McLaurin Avenue.  She married Clarence Cole “Buck” Knotts, Jr., on December 28, 1952. Bobby was preceded in death by parents, Arthur Rodgers Summerlin and Oveda Robbins Summerlin; husband, Buck; siblings, Betty Cashwell (Dewey), Jack (Katherine) and Art (Agnes Cochran surviving).

She was a mother of Clarence “Cole” Knotts, III and Linda Carol Knotts; grandmother, great grandmother and aunt to, Dewey, Jimbo, (Jack) Leithia, Don, Brad, Laura, Scott, and (Art) Susan, Steve, Rodger, Rosemary and Mark; and cousin to many of the Summerlin, Lowe, Purdy, Hawkins, Tutles and Robbins families.

Bobby started her career as Secretary to Dr. Kempner at the Laurinburg Hospital, then after taking care of Linda and Cole, she worked at the East Laurinburg Middle School until hired by Doug Yongue at Scotland High School where she worked until 1997 retiring after 30 years of service.  She assisted many parents and children as Secretary to the Principal. 

Bobby loved time with her family and friends, going to the beach, camping, and time at Lake Tillery with grandchildren, Summer Nunn (JR), (Sawyer and Charleston), Terrell Horne (Kristen), (Wylie); in-laws, The Taylors (Bill, Mary Ellis, Bill Jr., Hunt, Leonard, Bertha) and “adopted” family children, the Robertson’s, Bill, Martha Ann, children Robbin, Neal and Hockie. 

Bobby left us all with fond memories, caring and love that will last our lifetime. But now, the little energizer bunny has run out of gas.  She will be missed always.

A Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.   Family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
