Nellie Florence Lockey Yarborough, age 80 of Laurinburg passed to her Heavenly home on Saturday, October 17, 2020.
Nellie was born October 16, 1940 in Marlboro County, South Carolina, a loving daughter of the late Johnnie Lockey and Sallie Helen Bullard Lockey. She was the loving and devoted wife of 46 years to the late Roy Yarborough. She worked in textiles retiring after many with Waverly Mills. Nellie enjoyed the simple things of life and missed her time spent with Roy just riding around or going fishing. She loved collecting salt and pepper shakers and working in her flower garden. Before her illness, Nellie attended Hillside Free Will Baptist Church and North Laurinburg Baptist Church. She was a precious mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will truly be missed.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by brothers, Stephen Lockey and Jimmy Lockey.
Nellie leaves behind her sons, Randy Yarborough and wife Susan Peele of Laurinburg, Robert “Ken” Yarborough and wife Melody Yarborough of Laurinburg; sister, Ruby Lockey Tyndall of Laurinburg, and brother, Kenneth “Wayne” Lockey of McColl, SC; sister-in-law, Kay Lockey of McColl, SC; grandchildren, Jillian Hayes, Calla Hayes, Charlie Osteen, Jeremy Osteen, Dakota Yarborough and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Rogers Cemetery, McColl, SC. Pastor Donald Deal will be officiating the service.
Memorial donations are requested to be directed to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
