Natalie "Carolyn" McCook Obituary

Natalie Carolyn McCook, age 87, passed away peacefully November 24, 2020.

She was born November 14, 1933 in Whigham, Georgia to Andrew Jackson and Linnie Pearl Newberry Miller. She married the love of her life, J. Roy McCook, on December 25, 1955. Carolyn graduated from Wesleyan College with a degree in Christian Education and earned her master’s degree from Mercer University in Early Childhood Education.

Carolyn always put others first. Her whole life was dedicated to sharing her love of Christ and teaching and mentoring everyone whom she touched.  She was a dedicated wife/mother who loved and served her family.

For many years Carolyn served alongside her husband Roy as a missionary with OMS on the mission field in Colombia, Mexico, Florida, and Africa. Mission life suited her servant’s heart.  She served the women and children in the many churches Roy started.  Many people are walking with the Lord because of her witness. Her life verse was Joshua 24:15 “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” This verse exemplifies the depth of her faith and how she raised her children and loved her grandchildren.

Along with her husband, Carolyn is survived by her twin sister, Nan Freeman and her younger sister Annelle Linger, her children Guy (Flora), Diane (Robb), Keven (Leigh), and Karol, her 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

A graveside service celebrating her life will be held Friday afternoon November 27, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Hillside Memorial Park in Laurinburg, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carolyn McCook Memorial Fund c/o One Mission Society, P. O. Box A, Greenwood, IN  46142
