Mollie Cartrette Obituary

Mollie Verbee Cartrette, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend departed this life at the age of 67 on January 30, 2024.

She was born April 11, 1956 in Whiteville, North Carolina to the late Ransom Seymour Cartrette and the late Verbee Cribb Cartrette. Mollie was a valuable hardworking employee of the United States Postal Service from 2007 to 2021 until retiring. She was a dedicated church member of Peace Holiness Church where she loved to serve and worship. Mollie was a lady of simple pleasures who loved to crochet and work in her garden. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Delane Cartrette, D.J. Cartrette, Richard Cartrette, Ray Cartrette, and Dow Thomas Cartrette.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, son, Ricky Roy Dow Miller of Gibson; daughters, Margie Diane Clark (Gene) of Laurinburg, and Debbie Jean Collins (David) also of Laurinburg; brothers, Irvin “John” Cartrette (Sherry) of Gibson, “Joseph” Martin Cartrette (Lena) of Whiteville; sister, Margie Carol McLeod (Charlie) of Whiteville; eleven grandchildren, Cole Long, Dalton Long, Isaac Collins, Luke Collins, Levi Collins, Maisy Collins, Deanna Miller, Alexis Miller, Kasey Locklear, Leonna Miller, and Colby Auvil; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Peace Holiness Church officiated by Rev. John Cartrette. Graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Woodrow-Cribb Cemetery, Chadbourn, NC. Visitation will be held prior to the services on Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Peace Holiness Church.

Donations are requested to be given in Mollie’s memory to the Camp Freedom Youth Camp, 15825 Monroe Road, Laurinburg, NC  28352.
