Maxine Rorie Gore, age 89 of Oak Island, NC, formerly of Laurel Hill departed this life for her Heavenly home on May 2, 2026.
She was born September 23, 1936 in Rockingham, NC, loving daughter of the late John Sylvester Rorie and the late Minnie Freeman Rorie. Maxine was a valued employee of Carolina Cross Stitch, working as a cross-stitch kit assembler for many devoted years until retiring. She faithfully served as a member of Stewartsville Baptist Church who always loved helping wherever needed. Maxine enjoyed simple pleasures, working with her hands and especially time spent working in her garden. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will truly be missed.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her adored husband of 52 years, John William Gore, Sr.; siblings, Zelma Rorie Griffin, John Sylvester Rorie, Jr., Margeret Elizabeth Allen, Eugene Freeman Rorie, Sr., and Faye Ellis Rorie Nichols.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, John “William” Gore, Jr., and Alan “Bart” Gore (Stacy) both of Bolivia; grandchildren, Amy Carter, Justin Gore, Jenna Gore, Jordan Gore; and great-grandchildren, Sierra Carter, Chloe Carter, Jonathan Carter, Lilly Carter, and Elizabeth Carter; along with many loving extended family and friends.
Services will be held at graveside on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the Richmond County Memorial Park.
