Maxine Stone Edge, beloved mother and grandmother passed away at the age of 86 on November 16, 2024.
Maxine was born February 26, 1938 in Dillon County, South Carolina, loving daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Ray Stone. She would marry the love of her life, William Douglas “Doug” Edge, Sr., on April 30, 1959, together shared 59 happy years until his passing in 2018. Along with being a homemaker, she worked many years with the North Carolina Department of Transportation until her retirement. She and Doug served as faithful members of the Springhill Baptist Church. She enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles and traveling to the beach. Maxine loved her family and her great joy came from sharing time with each of them.
Also preceding her in death are sisters, Elise Faircloth, Alice Hyatt and Lenora Reese.
Maxine is survived by her sons, William D. “Bill” Edge, Jr., (Brenda) of Laurinburg, Steven D. Edge (Pearlene) of Lumberton; adored grandchildren, Amanda E. Esquibel, Kasie Edge-Parker; great grandchildren, Savana Esquibel, Shaylyn Esquibel, Sawyer Esquibel, Jaxon Parker, Ashlyn Parker, Maddux Parker; along with her nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
