Mary Lois Locklear Clark

Mary Lois Locklear Clark of Laurinburg was born to Richmond and Cathie Lee Maynor Locklear on Saturday, March 9, 1936 in Robeson County, NC.  She passed away to her Heavenly home at the age of 88 on the morning of February 11, 2025.

Mary grew up on the farm in the Union Chapel Community of Pembroke and graduated from High School in 1954. She attended Pembroke State University where she graduated with a teaching degree. She worked with Robeson County and Scotland County School Systems until she retired with 31 years of service. Mary was a devoted member of Gray Pond Baptist Church of Laurinburg, NC where she was a children’s Sunday School Teacher, Bereavement Chair, member of WMU, Lay Leader Chair, Church Secretary, President of Ladies Elders of Scotland County, Deacon’s wife, Women's Auxiliary Fire Department of Johns Station, and Local Missions Committee.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, her first husband James L. Hunt, and two sisters, Ruby Neil and Daisy Locklear.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Herbert Clark of the home; sons, Keith Clark (Leeann) and Phillip Clark both of Laurinburg, NC. two granddaughters, Harley Clark Burchette (David) and Nacoma Clark, one great grandchild, Riah Locklear; three brothers, Ray Locklear (Barbara), Jerl Locklear (Effie), Badger Locklear; three sisters, Eunice Brewer (Ray), Deanna Jones (Donald), Barbara Locklear (Lacy); many nieces, nephews and loving extended family.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Gray Pond Baptist Church with burial following in the Clark Family Cemetery.  

Visitation will be on Friday evening, February 14th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Gray Pond Baptist Church.
