Mary Lee Morrison Obituary

Mrs. Mary Lee Outen Morrison of Laurinburg passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on July 3, 2024.

Mary Lee was the loving daughter of the late Jesse and Theo Horton Outen born June 6, 1926 in Cheraw, South Carolina.  She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Chalmers Carr Morrison and their beautiful family. Along with being a devoted homemaker, Mary Lee work in customer service with Wachovia Bank until her retirement.  She was an active faithful member of the St. Pauls Methodist Church where she loved serving in the many capacities where needed.

Mary Lee loved to cook for her family and others.  She also enjoyed flower gardening, long walks, sitting on her porch and watching her favorite soap operas. She was also a reader, especially the newspapers reading every word from beginning to end.  Her greatest joy came from sharing time with her family, especially her grandchildren.   Mary Lee was a delightful and strong lady who was adored and admired by her family and friends. Her legacy of love will forever be treasured by each of her loved ones.

Those preceding her in death are husband, Chalmers Carr Morrison; twin sister, Ann Marie Thompson, and sister, Virginia Miller.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann McLean (Hamrick McLean) of Maxton, and Nancy Nance (Ken Nance, Jr.)  of White Lake; brother, Ellison Outen of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Stephanie Norton (Rodney), Kimberly Laviner (David), Ken Nance III (Megan), Ryan Nance (Sarah Kate); great grandchildren, Tyler McLean, Lilly Nance, Grady Nance, Ellie Nance; step grandchildren, Rodney Norton, Jr., Justin Norton, Kaylee L. Locklear, Lauren Laviner; and eight great-great grandchildren; along with a host of loving extended family.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton.   Family will receive friends following the service at graveside.

The family requests donations be given in Mary Lee’s memory to her church, St. Pauls Methodist Church, P. O. Box 429, Maxton, NC  28364.
