Mary Frances Cribb Benton was born on November 26, 1935 in Marlboro, South Carolina, daughter of the late Artis Cribb and Lucille Jones Cribb. Frances was the loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Gilbert Benton. She retired after 24 years as a Teachers’ Assistant where she enjoyed helping children with their education at Laurel Hill Elementary School. She was a Godly woman who served as a true prayer warrior for all. She was a faithful member of East Laurinburg Church of God where she loved serving the Lord and her church family. In her pastime, Frances enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing, reading, crafts, and shopping. She loved birthday parties and could not wait to celebrate Jesus’ birthday. Frances most loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. To her family, she will be remembered as a devoted, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Frances passed away to her Heavenly home at the age of 86 on December 24, 2021.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, Larry Gilbert “Wolf” Benton (Wendy Millikin) of Laurel Hill; daughters, Wendy Locklear (Jimmy) and Tammy Benton Burris, all of Laurinburg; sisters, Margaret Williams of Laurinburg, Anna “Billie” Bridges of McColl, SC; grandchildren, Stephanie Worley, Larry Eugene Benton, Anna Watson, Heather Dover, Frank Allen Burris, III, Cody Collins, Kim Davis, Allison Locklear, Clay Locklear; great grandchildren, Kellie Bass, Bo Bass, Colby Watson, Caleb Watson, Micaiah Dover, Berkley Dover, Graclyn Dover, Laiya Burris, Lukas Burris, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Harry Clark. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
